Heart
Behind
the Lens
I’m Akara, and my journey with photography began through modelling at a young age. I always felt at ease in front of the camera, enjoying the chance to dress up and embody different personas. That fascination with imagery never left me. In my early twenties, I invested in my first DSLR — a Panasonic Lumix, one of the best on the market at the time. I photographed clothing for the online vintage shop I co-founded with my partner and began offering portfolio sessions for friends. It was then that my love for the creative process of photography truly took root.
Later, in Australia, I immersed myself in art modelling, expressing many facets of my being through creative personas.
When I returned to Glastonbury, my path expanded into film projects, including an animal documentary for SriLankan Airlines, which I co-presented. I was due to travel to Sri Lanka to film a second documentary when Covid struck, changing everything.
With this shift, my focus turned fully toward photography. Drawn by my love of nature, beauty, and the divine feminine, I began photographing women in Avalon — priestesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives building their own brands. Over time, I expanded into retreats and seasonal shoots, weaving together my gifts in styling, embodiment, and brand storytelling. My approach creates an empowering experience that allows women to feel confident, relaxed, and radiant in front of the lens.
To me, photoshoots are not about posing — though I will gently guide when needed. They are about presence. When you feel natural, your essence shines, and the camera captures effortless, authentic beauty.
